Our Favorite Moments of 2021

It’s about that time when people start talking about resolutions and goals and plans for the coming year. And while that’s all well and good, when we only look ahead, we miss where we’ve been. Reflecting on the past year is important, especially considering it could be so easy to mash 2020 and 2021 together in our memories into one big chaotic tornado of time. The truth is, there was a lot to love about this year. So in an effort to really remember the good, we asked our team to share their biggest highlight of 2021. We hope it inspires you to make note of your favorite moments, too.

Joan

Our sheep had triplet lambs in May.

Diana

We spent the Swash Summer “bye week” with just our family. We took a safe and well distanced road trip and spent an isolated week by the coast where we  watched the sun rise and set from our balcony, went out in the darkness on the beach to watch the crabs flit about, read a stack of books, and made our own pineapple slushies!

Nico

I went back to Santa Cruz over the summer break and got to spend the day hanging out with one of my best friends and going to my favorite stores and restaurants.

Faith

I started riding horses twice a week — I rode for a bit as a kid, but it’s been around 18 years since then. This year I decided to begin taking lessons again and it’s such a fun and rewarding (and challenging — contrary to popular belief, riding horses is hard) part of my week.

Jess

I took my 7 year old to his first legit concert — Glass Animals. We had SO much fun.

Andi

I turned 30 and am glad to have arrived in this new season of life. Every small victory felt massive this year. Repainting the bathroom, spending a night at a cozy B&B in the snow, squishing clay, exploring Chicago, and spending time with my favorite people and animals have made it an as-good-as-I-could’ve-hoped(-all-things-considered) sort of year.

Stephanie

This was the year I started updating my kitchen. 2020 really reinforced my love of cooking and so I started making choices on what I might upgrade in 2021 to improve the overall kitchen experience. First up was replacing my very sad, very loud dishwasher and choosing a new sink.
