We Are a Remote Agency

2020 was many things, including the year of WFH — work from home. Companies scrambled to transition their businesses to fully remote models, with varying degrees of success. For Swash Labs, this wasn’t an overwhelming endeavor. To a certain extent, Swash Labs is and has always been a remote agency. Even when we had a physical office, we’ve never tied ourselves to a geographic location. We can work from anywhere. We have employees and clients all across the country. Out of necessity, we've spent the last year and a half refining this set of skills — and believe me when I say that it is a real skill set, with learned efficiencies and institutional knowledge playing a real role in the success of the remote agency project. 

Moving out of the office and becoming a 100% remote agency was a natural evolution for us, as was the correlative capability of being able to work for clients all over the country. It is, after all, something we've been doing since our first year in business. 

Clients Near and Far

This ability served us well with clients from all over. Little Guys Movers is an example of a hybrid client, in that they are located both near and far away from our traditional base of operations in Denton, Texas. The main corporate HQ is here, as is the Denton Little Guys Movers location, but between corporate and franchise shops, Little Guys operates 16 locations across 8 states. Working with a national company requires us not just to communicate with people all over the U.S. for day-to-day work purposes, but to take the entire country into consideration when it comes to brand messaging. This is what remote work allows agencies to do — to step outside of their bubble and create work that resonates further than home base. We've been doing good work for some Little Guys Movers locations since they opened their doors, and that experience will serve us well as Little Guys continues to get, er...bigger.

Other clients are physically located quite a ways away, even if their work and causes are close to our hearts. We're very proud of the work we've done over the last few years for Asian American Advocacy Fund, a 501(c)4 nonprofit located in Georgia. AAAF is a wonderful group of vital activists, and our work in support of their efforts is always rewarding. The physical distance between our headquarters and theirs is completely irrelevant and has never hampered our ability to aid their cause, even before the pandemic.

Looking Ahead

In 2021, our work literally spans from coast-to-coast. We have successful engagements and projects cooking for small businesses like Boyer Law Group in Los Angeles, California as well as for larger organizations like UPC Insurance in St. Petersburg, Florida. 

These projects keep us busy — as we've learned over ten years in business, the reward for good work is often more work. In the last year, we've also learned that our flexibility, our strong dedication to work/life boundaries, our efforts to improve and guard our own internal quality of life, and our comfort level with digital collaboration tools means that even with how weird and difficult and traumatic Our Pandemic Year+ turned out, we have been able to do bigger, better, and more successful work than ever before. Our plan is to take these evolving elements of our culture with us into the future, with pride and excitement about what's possible in the next decade.
